POLICY BRIEF
Dodik's Constitutional Coup and Regional Instability
Harun Cero
Once again, Bosnia and Herzegovina finds itself amid political turmoil. Milorad Dodik and his ruling coalition in Republika Srpska have once again escalated their long-planned campaign for full secession from the central state. In a calculated move, Dodik and his organised group have seized the moment amid global turmoil and have both de facto and de jure executed a constitutional coup d'état, further advancing their dangerous agenda.
This policy brief touches upon the most recent developments affecting Bosnia and Herzegovina and analyses the international community’s response and the influence of geopolitical developments toward this crisis. Several scenarios are laid out towards which the country may be headed while emphasising urgent actions the international community must take to ensure the security and sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
